In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
This week marks the 20th anniversary of the release of The Blair Witch Project, and the cast and crew have gathered to look back on the film's legacy. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Donahue, Leonard, and Williams discussed the making of the film and how it has impacted their lives.
"It's hard to believe it's been 20 years," said Donahue. "It feels like just yesterday we were filming that movie in the woods. It was such a crazy experience, but it was also so much fun. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it."
