Farage's Reform UK Surges in Polls After He Takes Helm
Conservatives Unchanged on 18%, UKIP Drops to 16%
Rise in Support Follows Farage's Announcement as Party Leader
A recent poll conducted by YouGov for the Times newspaper has revealed a significant surge in support for Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage. The party, which previously stood at 17%, has now climbed to 19%, while the Conservative Party remains unchanged on 18%. This rise in popularity comes after Farage's announcement that he would take over as party leader, confirming the impact his appointment has had on the party's fortunes.
The latest poll, conducted from June 5-6, shows Reform UK dropping one percentage point to 16%, while the Conservatives remained on 19%. This indicates that while Reform UK's initial surge may have subsided, they continue to maintain a strong position in the polls. Notably, the poll also shows a decline for UKIP, which has dropped from 17% to 16%.
The age breakdown of Reform UK's support reveals that the party enjoys the strongest support among those aged 18-34, with 44% of respondents in this age group indicating their support. This suggests that Farage's message is particularly resonating with younger voters.
Geographically, Reform UK's support is strongest in the South of England, where they enjoy the support of 32% of respondents. The party also performs well in the Midlands and London, with 29% and 27% support, respectively. This reflects the party's ability to appeal to voters across a range of regions.
