Manchester City beat Tottenham to reach FA Cup fifth round
Nathan Ake's late goal secured a 1-0 win for the Premier League champions
City had failed to win on their last five visits to Tottenham
Nathan Ake's late goal gave Manchester City a 1-0 victory over Tottenham in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.
The Premier League champions had failed to win on their last five visits to Tottenham, but Ake's goal in the 82nd minute secured a hard-fought victory.
City dominated possession in the first half but failed to create any clear-cut chances. Tottenham had the better of the second half and came close to taking the lead through Son Heung-min, but the South Korean's effort was saved by Stefan Ortega.
With the game looking set for a replay, Ake popped up to score the winner. The Dutch defender bundled the ball home from close range after Riyad Mahrez's shot had been parried by Fraser Forster.
The win sends City into the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will face either Peterborough United or Bristol City.
